Masterson’s Lounge, nestled in the bustling area of Moonee Ponds , markets itself as a trendy “hipster” hangout , but my recent visit at this establishment resulted in an experience I’d rather forget . While the bar may look welcoming at first glance , what I encountered behind its doors was appalling and beyond comprehension .
The Condition of the Premises : Filthy and Neglected
From the moment I walked in , it was clear that hygiene was not a priority at this venue. The floorboards were filthy, and a nauseating aroma of old alcohol and filthy restrooms polluted the entire pub. With a smell of a mixture of excrement , putrefaction and a sickly smell. The main bar, which should be the main attraction of any pub, was littered with unwashed glassware and trash that looked like it hadn’t been touched in ages . The lavatory was in even more deplorable shape — spilling over , with a snapped lever and tiles smeared in what I can only assume was feces.

From reading other reviews and conversing with residents , it seems that the level of hygiene (or lack breaking news thereof) at this pub is a persistent problem .
